My first Short Story Competition

This is a short story I wrote for a competition way back in junior high. I got second place, but when I read it now, I can't help but wonder why the judges liked it so much.

Connor VS. the Captain

I was just flipping through some old notes for my book and I came across a little scene that I wrote. I still think it's kinda funny, so I decided to share. P.S. It's funnier when you are familiar with all the character's personalities, but hopefully it won't be too boring for you.   "So … Continue reading Connor VS. the Captain

I am (I hope) going to be a (published)Writer

I did something really exciting today! I applied for a freelance writing job online!  It is a really simple job that doesn't pay hardly at all, but it will put some published experience under my belt, and help me get the better jobs. I have no idea if I will actually be hired, and I … Continue reading I am (I hope) going to be a (published)Writer

I've had messy handwriting for as long as I can remember. I can have the prettiest, elegant, neat handwriting when I take the time to do it, but who has time for that?! When I get a really good idea for my book that I just have to wright down right now, I end up going between … Continue reading Writing Fever and Messy Handwriting.

Never keep your entire book-in-progress in just one file… EVER!

The grass is turning green, it's time to sell some steers, and the thunderstorm season begins. For the last few weeks it has seemed like every other day you would wake up to find an inch of snow outside, but by evening it was sunny with green grass again! To tell the truth, I actually … Continue reading Never keep your entire book-in-progress in just one file… EVER!
